Parkway Sunset

This acrylic painting is a simple yet beautiful take on the stunning views found while driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. The inspiration for this painting came when I was driving home from my grandparents’ house. On my route down the parkway, I began to take a small curve, and there at one of the overlooks was a wonderful view of the sunset and all of its colors along the mountain ridges. I snapped a photo that I later used as my reference in painting class. Working on this painting was quite a relaxing process as I got to reference some of god’s finest work. This is one of the only scenes I’ve painted of nature, and it has made me realize that I need to spend more time painting the beauty we find right outdoors.
