For this project, we were to create a logo, tickets, deck passes, and additional mockups for the 2040 Summer Olympics at a city of our choice that has not previously hosted the Olympic Games. I chose Bangkok, Thailand.

In the brainstorming phases of this design, I knew I wanted to have a simple look while incorporating the beauty of Thailand itself.

Process

The process of this project was difficult for me at first. I wasn’t getting any sparks or great ideas from the original sketch matrix, so I decided to start sketching out different flowers that were meaningful to Thailand. This led me to the final design taking form as a line work lotus.

It was delicate, beautiful, and had great meaning, which was everything I was hoping to achieve.

In Thailand, a lotus symbolizes purity and faithfulness. The lotus is a simple and elegant representation of Bangkok, Thailand, and all the city has to offer, from the lantern festival to sacred temples and beautiful sunsets.

Final Lockups

The pictograms are simply the filled petals of the lotus to look like arms and legs. The decorative dots created the heads and each sport ball.
